As with most airports, it's not in the best or worst neighborhood, but there are really no fine dining options close. Staying close, however, these are some good things -- though not fancy things in any way:
Las Palmas on Woodson Road
Woofies on Woodson Road
Nick & Elena's PIzza on Woodson Road
India Palace on Lindbergh

I'll second India Palace. The lunch buffet there is very good. But if you're willing to drive less than 10 minutes away you can get some GREAT Mexican food at Pueblo Nuevo in nearby Hazelwood. Family run with delicious food. It's in a small strip mall on Lindbergh Blvd. just north of 270.

For white tablecloth dining, try Lombardo's. It is across the interstate from the airport, and has pretty decent Italian food. It is located inside a hotel.
