My favorite chocolate dessert in beantown...
bot a "Jamaica" from Athan's for the office... still my all around favorite chocolate dessert in beantown: chocolate mousse, cake, cherry jam all enrobed in really good dark chocolate ganache. it rocks. i won't say that everything at Athan's rocks, but the jamaica is pretty darn good.

... is the chocolate sampler from 75 Chestnut. A sippable/dippable chocolate liquor type thing, a chocolate creme brulee, a small dark chocolate cake, and all of it darn tasty.
My wedding cake was a chocolate ganache, dark chocolate cake with mocha icing between the layers from Rosie's. Some of my friends are still gushing about this cake, six years after the event.

Okay, it's far from my favorite restaurant, but each year a group from work goes to Anthony's Pier 4 for dinner. And each year we order both the Grand Marnier and Chocolate Souffles...I have to say it's the one thing I really look forward to when we go! If it didn't take about a half hour to make, I'd go there and just order dessert!

My two favorites (a tie) are both from Eastern Standard, when offered:
Chocolate Bread Pudding
Dark Chocolate MousseBoth are very, very chocolate-y but not very sweet, which is how I like my chocolate!

re: StriperGuy
ditto..everything looks pretty enough, but seems to be made of the same relatively bland chocolate mousse. I tried just about all their desserts when I found the place last year.
I'd rather stop by Party Favors and try anything new they have. Had a piece of their Chocolate Decadence cake over the weekend and it was awesome if you're a chocolate fan...chocolate cake/mousse layers w/ a chocolate ganache on top and everything tastes like chocolate so you need a good cup of milk to go with it :-)

That sounds a lot like the chocolate mousse cake at Burdick's, except they use lingonberry jam. My favorites right now are the super chocolate cupcake at Kick Ass Cupcakes in Davis and the burdick pastry... at Burdick's, it has rum ganache and I believe it's called japonais layers? I don't know exactly what's in it, but I love it! Where is Athan's?

re: voodoocheese
Athan's is at Washington Square
http://www.athansbakery.com/cafe.html - you can take the green line (C) to Washington Square, parking can be a little difficult around there. It is pretty good for a weekend coffee, and their baklava is pretty good too!
