Dinner with CP SLO Students

Hi - we're headed to SLO over Prez Day to visit our CP student. We'd like to take her and friends out for a casual dinner. I'm looking for something non-chain, fun atmosphere, without breaking the bank. We've been to Splash Cafe, McClintocks, Buona Tavola, Big Sky Cafe, Thai Palace. Any other suggestions?

2nd the Bon Temps mention, though I've not been for dinner. Breakfast is our favorite.

Custom House in Avila Beach with a straight view of the beach and pier. Good food and service. Full bar.

Mama's Meatball in the Creamery. Italian chef, good food.

Taco Temple in Morro Bay at the Spencer's shopping center on north Main St (Hiway 41 exit, north on frontage rd) High Tech-Mex. Fresh local ingredients including line-caught seafood. Not cheap taqueria food, but very good.

Thai Talay in Pismo Beach. Nice dining room and Auntie in the kitchen.

....but no reservations and a 110db rating. They also have a small cafe across the street with pizza, etc. Very cute atmosphere. Next to the 2-story bank right against the freeway. And they have a locaton in SLO downstairs in the Downtown Center at Morro and Monterey.

I have a few favorites to share. All are casual and none will break the bank.
In SLO the Del Monte Cafe has traditional American comfort food that's well prepared. It's very small and located by the train station.
Tenth Street Grill in Los Osos.
Tognazzini's Dockside Restaurant in Morro Bay for very good fresh seafood.

Hmm...do you like Cajun food? I would recommend Bon Temps Creole Cafe on Olive Street. Great food, casual and fun atmosphere, and an interesting menu selection.

Bon Temps is our favorite family breakfast stop when we visit our CPSLO student!
