DC Ranch/Scottsdale area

I will be staying in the above area for 3 nights. What restaurants and wine bars really standout????

I second Sol y Sombra - the food was terrific. It was pretty loud, but the food made up for it.

If you like sushi, Blue Wasabi is right there in the the Marketplace, too. I haven't been there in literally years, but we enjoyed the specialty rolls.

Sol y Sombra was very good. Tara, Seth, and I all enjoyed what we had. Some were better than others, but on the whole, they were all tasty. Quality of ingredients was top notch as well.

I loved Blue Wasabi when I first moved to Phoenix back in 04. They'd just opened at that point and didn't have the huge crowds. I burnt Tara out by going there so often. Some of the food could be a bit hit or miss, but the combinations were really good. Like Tara said, we haven't been there in a few years, though.

Thanks for the responses. I am looking for good quality meals at any price point. How is Flemings for Steak? Also, I would prefer to stay close since I do not know the area that well.

Flemings is a regional chain but not in a bad way...their steaks are a notch below Ruth's Chris but still very good and, in my opinion, it's quite reasonably priced. They have a nice wine by the glass menu and the service has always been very good. (Ask to be seated at Javier's table and then try to tell me that this guy isn't actually Al Pacino.)

If you want a GREAT steak instead of a good one, head to Mastro's which isn't far away at all.

In the DC Ranch area, Armitage is a nice wine bar. It's in the DC Ranch Marketplace. Also there is Sol y Sombra, which offers tapas and a very good Spanish wine list.

Beyond that, please let us know how far you are willing to travel and what type of restaurants you are looking for.

Any certain type of meals you are looking for when you are here?

As for wine bars there is Kazimierz which I always enjoy, and Tapino which I feel doesn't carry as much atmosphere (but has plenty of good wine).

Epicurean gets some recognition, but I have yet to try it out.
