Magnolia Cafe in Horsham
Anyone been? It's in an unassuming spot in a shopping center so I never really considered going. I just read a pretty good review in our local paper, so now I am intrigued. Is it good? I also read they offer a $30 fixed price dinner, similar to a Fayette Street Grill concept. Is that true? Is it offered every night? Is it worth going? I'd love to find a good new local spot.

Hi, We have been here several times and had a good meal each time. My brother and his wife from the NYC area came and thought their seabass dinners were some of the best they ever had. We find the food consistently good, whether it is the salads, pastas or meat dishes. I would recommend reservations, as they have two seatings on the weekends - around 6 - 6:30 and 8:00ish. One downside is that the restaurant is small and the people coming in around 8:00 have only a small area to wait. The restaurant could also use some updating. However, I find the waitstaff to be very friendly and prompt; and the food to be delicious. I'm not that impressed with most restaurants in this area, so if you haven't been, its at least worth trying and deciding for yourself. We also used to go to Jumbo Sushi in that same strip, but haven't been in years. Has anyone been there lately?

I was there a few years ago around Thanksgiving, either the night before or the night after. There were 12 of us and otherwise the place was pretty empty. The food was nothing special, for had it been we certainly would've gone back. Maybe we didn't get the best they had to offer.
FWIW, I've learned to take "reviews in our local paper" with a grain of salt.

re: LowerGwyneddGirl
I have been there several times and never have been disappointed.. I enjoyed everything frm their appetizers, salads and entrees. I thought they offered a 28.00(?) prix fixe menu but I never tried. My favorite meal is their "veal scallopini" Succulent veal topped with grilled eggplant and cheese in a tasty tomato sauce over a mushroom risotta.... During the week, seating is sometimes available w/o reservations...but call first It cant hurt!
