Reasonable midtown west restaurant for 2 out of town convention attendees

Hi - Looking for some reasonable dinner places for two guys attending a convention at the Javits Center and staying at the Westin in Times Square. Both are from out of town, so probably won't venture too far from the hotel....
Thanks!

  1. Check this board for theater district discussions. That's basically where you're staying and what's within a nice walking distance.

    1. Can you give some more info, particularly price range.

Hi Spiritchaser - I would probably say anywhere in the 30 - 50 dollar range per person (dinner and one drink?). I"m actually looking for my husband and brother-in-law. I used to live in NY, and we go back about twice a year, but my husband is not too comfortable navigating the city without me, so I think they'd prefer to go somewhere within walking distance or within a short cab ride. They go to this same convention every year and have hit most of the better steakhouses in the city, and a few of the better restaurants, so they're really looking for some good food, and not to spend a fortune this time. They both like Italian, seafood, French, American fare, probably nothing too ethnic...
        Thanks!!

Tell them to check out Marseille on 44th (French bistro), Etcetera Etcetera also on 44th (Med/Italian), Cascina on 9th. All of these places MIGHT push the $$ limits but it wouldn't have to be by much if they watch it and they all have good food so it would be worth it.

I agree with spiritchaser and would add West Bank Cafe to the mix.

Wonderful - I'm going to have them check all of the suggestions out - and I just noticed that it is Restaurant Week in NY - so they may be able to stretch their $$ if they're OK with a prix fixe. Any other suggestions out there?
