I've never bought kumquats because there are so many in my grandma's yard, but I see them at Chinese supermarkets and at Trader Joe's.

They often have them at Pavilion's in those little bins in the back where the more "exotic" produce is. They have lime-quats, too, but I've never had any. The ones at Trader Joe's are in those plastic clam-shell things most of their produce is packed in. I'll keep my eyes out when I hit Whole Foods tomorrow and report back.

In what area are you looking?

        farmers markets
The market on Monday morning, West Hollywood, Plummer's Park, has a citrus and avocado grower who brought bags of kumquats today (I haven't seen them in prior weeks).

if you get desperate, whole paycheck usually has them...but at their prices i wouldn't want to buy several pounds!
