Mini-pork pie covered in melted stilton. $2.50 at myers of Keswick and they'll microwave it for you. Cadbury Bubbly (almost as good as the original Wispa) for dessert. Yummy!

Why not? By the way it wasn't microwaved, it was just slightly armed in the oven which just melted the stilton. It was still cold inside.

It just doesn't seem right to me! :) By the way, I am British and think that Myers of Keswick pork pies surpass any pork pies I've ever tasted in England. We just typically eat them cold.

I second the not-heating-pork-pie theory (I'm British too). If you do you lovely cold jelly (the whole point of the pie) would melt!

Given my fond memories of walking around the walls of York eating cold pork pies (as opposed to Cornish pasties which should be very hot and which Myers also offers), I agree. I also understand the jelly comment. But it did make the stilton topping (is that unique to Myers I wonder?) that much meltier. Now here's one for you Brits-where can one find a jellied eel pie in NY? The Myers guy looked at me like I was insane when I asked.

I don't recall ever having a stilton topped pork pie in England, but maybe it's traditional in some parts of the country.
Jellied eel pie? Bleurgh! Jellied eels are traditionally from East London, but not really eaten anymore although you can buy them at some seaside resorts. I don't think there's any such thing as a jellied eel pie since they are supposed to be eaten cold. They're a side to pie and mash or to be eaten by themselves. I shouldn't think there's anywhere in NY you can buy them.
