Smoked Mullet in Central Florida?

Yes The Gold Skillet Seafood Market located in northeast Marion County in the Ocala national Forest smokes mullet the old-fashioned way, slow smoked to perfection using only the simplest ingredients mullet, salt, pepper and smoke, always fresh. It reminds me of the mullet I got as a child growing up in Tampa, Florida. Palmetto Beach and the 22nd St Causeway were famous for roadside smoked mullet. Always fresh. 1. Thanks so much for the Pics!

Since you mention Tampa presume you've tried Ted's, if so, how would you compare?

I can't tell you how many pitchers of beer I've had while sitting at the counter served to me by Ted himself! it was the place to go in the 70's. Personally I think the Mackerel was to die for, and the mullet reasonable. But after a few pitchers it all taste great! The mullet from the Gold Skillet was fresh as can be the smoke was just right, they use oak and hickory and the fish is never dry. Or at least I have never got one that wasn't up to par.

        TY for the rec.

If it lives up to "Ted's" it sounds like a place to visit. Hopefully will get a chance soon.
