This IS NOT a chain post!!! This post is for SMALL independent operators who operate more than one of the same brand. NO BIG CHAINS allowed!!! As usual, I will give you a few of my favorites here in my neck of the Florida woods...please feel free to post yours.

1. Taverna OPA - Greek Goodness with a huate party ambiance.

2. El Rey de las Fritas - Cuban Burgers? Si Senor!

3. Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza - Burnt is better!

I beg of the moderators NOT to move this over to the "chain" board.

Good one! Their slices have cured what's illing me for years!

Roasters and Toasters have spread thier wings and is among the best delis in Florida.

      1. re: The Chowfather AKA sobe

Sadly, it appears that Dogma has lost one of its "franks". The SoBe Washington Ave location has been closed the last two times I have passed by and frankly (pun intended) looks abandoned. Thankfully it still lives on at its Biscayne Blvd and Federal Hwy locations.

        1. re: eatnbmerry

I don't know man, I wouldn't even rate Dogma in my top 10 favorite hot dogs.

Has anyone tried Scrubby's BBQ? I've been meaning to make it over there, but I'm not even sure if they use real smoke.

How about La Granja? They're chicken is always moist, flavorful, and cheap as all get out. They're other stuff is great too - ceviche, plantains, tostones, amazing fried yucca, and about 10 types of house-made peruvian hot sauces to slather on everything. I believe they franchise, but they are a Florida only company.

          1. re: johnmlinn

ahhh but is it the top multi unit dog place you know?....

            1. re: The Chowfather AKA sobe

Well, it might be one of the only multi unit dog places that's not a franchise. But this topic isn't that narrow; it's for all multi unit establishments, not just the ones that serve hot dogs. Based on the strength of its food under that definition, I would argue against it being included in the best list.

        2. re: The Chowfather AKA sobe

Upon further review, I'm not sure Pizza Rustica qualifies since it is a franchise.

        3. The Chains board is for discussing multistate franchises. As long as the discussion stays focused on locally-oriented chains, it's fine with us!

          1. The ever growing/spreading throughout Florida Columbia (sorry Net, thats how they spell it) Restaurant. Now as far south from the landmark Ybor City original as West Palm Beach and north as St. Augustine.

The spanish/cuban cuisine is usually above average and their 1905 Ensalada is a true Floridian original.

I'm down with Columbia...the restaurant. As for the country it's COLOMBIA!!!

That, by the way, is a very worthy addition to this list.

            2. Not really the highest in quality, but always good eats is C.R. Chicks.

              1. Rice in Miami Beach and Doral is doing a good job with grilled kebabs.

Sorry, Yo-Yo...South Beach is my woods. Surely, there must be some decent multi-unit Indies in your neck of the FLA woods, no?

                  2. Here's a couple more from down yonder in Dade...what else you got FLA???

                    Larios Cuban Cuisine Miami
                    Iron Sushi Miami

Never heard of Iron S where they be at?

                        1. re: eatnbmerry

Downtown, South Beach, Miami Shores...Iron Sushi is kind of "Quick Serve" delivery stuff. Certainly not NOBU!

                      2. Los Ranchos Nicaraguan Steakhouse - Miami.

                        1. Padrino's in Boca & Plantation, Rosano's in Coral Springs, Boca & Delray

                          1. I really love Tijuana Flats for fresh tex-mex. I first became obsessed with them in Gainesville, and then found out they have several locations in Orlando, Pompano Beach and Deerfield, I believe, among other places. When I say obsessed, I mean I must have eaten there at least twice a week when I lived in G-ville.

Really fresh and tasty guacamole and their sweet chili sauce is to die for! Too bad they don't have any locations in Dade county :(

                            1. A Mr. Potato Head post on the wings thread reminded me that Keg South with three locations in Miami-Dade deserves a mention here as well.

The original in Pinecrest is a local institution and not only serves solid wings but does a great job with burgers and fries to go along with a pitcher of their ice cold brew. They also have a bigger/newer/cleaner (yes you can read more "sanitized" and less original mojo) spot out by Tamiami Airport along with a down Homestead way locale.

Definitely an indie worthy of a visit!

                              1. Maybe not the caliber you are seeking, but I would like to mention Bru's Room. Not gourmet by any stretch, but the wings have always been my favorite. Plus, I love seeing the owners of a place walking around, meeting customers, helping servers, running food, etc. The owner at Bru's Room at the new Commercial location is always highly visible and extremely friendly.

                                1. In Melbourne/Brevard Country, Charlie & Jake's have 2 locations.

Good bar-b-q, but the kicker is that they brew their own beer.

                                  1. Lime for Mexican
                                    Shorty's for BBQ

                                    1. What, no sweet Dade love for Chicken Kitchen?!

                                      1. If you can handle the Irish Theme Park decor, we've generally had good luck food-wise with McGuire's in the Panhandle.

Buffalo Reef/Buffalo Express for quick & greasy chicken and wings.
