Mexican market with fresh flour tortillas

Where in Brooklyn can I find a good, authentic Mexican grocery where they sell fresh flour tortillas?

Close to Propsect Park is best.

  1. Just go to the factory in Bushwick and buy a bag straight off the production line.

Half a block from the Jefferson L. Taco stand inside too.

Thanks, but that's much too far. Trying to find somewhere in the vicinity of Park Slope if possible.

Sunset Park is the only closer place that could have anything like that, but I can't promise they're going to be fresh. Just about every tortilla in NY comes out of 2-3 factories in Bushwick and Queens.

Union Market makes surprisingly good ones (speaking about flour ones here). Flour tortillas are a staple in northern Mexico, while corn is much more prevalent in and around Mexico City and to the south. It's much easier to find good flour tortillas in Chicago and in the southwest, where immigrants from the northern parts of Mexico have long established communities.

      2. Do you mean flour or corn? Lots of fresh corn tortillas are made in Bushwick but I don't think flour, which was not really a part of the culture of the central Mexicans who've immigrated to NYC. Last time I really checked (a few years back) most Mexican shops selling flour tortillas got em from Chicago -- but a few places like Burritoville make their own daily and sell em (and yes, Chevy's Fresh Mex in Time Square too ). One place closer to Park Slope that makes fresh CORN tortillas is the new Guerrero Tacqueria, which just opened on Fourth Ave in the upper 30s or 40s, I think
