Lunch within walking distance of Washington Sq. Park

Going to be in Greenwich Village tomorrow afternoon. Looking for a casual little place for lunch. I love a good salad. My husband likes things more hearty. We'd like to walk from our son's apartment near the park. And considering the weather, the closer, the better. Thanks.

  1. Lupa is arguably one of the best in the area.

    1. Dojo's just east of the park is a good bet for you both.

      1. North Square Restaurant at Washington Square Hotel has a good lunch menu with some entree salad options.

        1. I enjoy Otto which is just north of the park.

Thanks, everyone. I wrote them all down for future use. Every time we visit we love walking around and trying out some new spots. While they all look ideal, it's just too cold today for a long walk. I think today, we'll just head to Jane. It's closest and I did love their salad with the goat cheese.

Have you been to Pearl Oyster Bar? I'd head there if I were you for lunch - practically across 6th Avenue from Washington Square.

If it is open for lunch, Blue Hill gets my vote loud and very clear! No contest!

We went to Lupa. Finally got into that place. It's right down the block from my son and it's always packed. I'd almost given up. We walked by, went to Jane and had a half hour wait. Hubby ran around the corner and checked Lupa, just in case. They had no wait. Came back to get me and we ran there. I had the escarole salad. Hubby had the linguine with mussels. Said it was delicious even though it was spicy. My son had the special tagliatelle bolognese. His looked the best.
Big crowd lined up by the door on the way out. Perfect timing today.

I find that lunch is almost always an easy availability at Lupa. We've done numerous lunch there, all on a spur-of-the-moment decision, and have never waitied more than 15 minutes for a table.
