Help me redo this recipe for Black Russian Cake

Black Russian Cake

1 package yellow cake mix
1 package instant chocolate pudding
1 c oil
4 eggs
1/2 C Kahlua
1/4 C vodka
3/4 C water

Mix, pour into greased bundt pan.
Bake at 350 for 55 mins.

I want to take out the instant pudding and boxed cake mix... Making just a regular yellow cake is easy enough, but what do I do about the instant pudding?

  1. Well, instant pudding is basically a mix of dry milk powder, sugar, cocoa, and starch. Alton Brown has a recipe for homemade chocolate pudding mix:

Your recipe doesn't specify a large or small package of instant pudding, but let's assume it calls for a small one, which is about 3 oz. The AB recipe makes about 12.5 oz., so try adding 1/4 of that recipe to your dry ingredients, and make all the necessary adjustments to the wet ingredients to account for not using the cake mix.

    Good luck!
