Pregnant mama craving Fried Chicken meal in L.B.
My family and I have gone to a little place in the Long Beach area called Moffett's for years to get fried chicken dinners with mashed potatoes, yummy biscuits, peas and carrots, soup or salad, and choice of desert. They were also the only place that would have cranberry sauce on the side. They closed recently after decades in business now I am at a loss for something similar to satisfy some wicked pregnant cravings. We went out to the Mrs. Knotts chicken dinner place at Knott's Berry Farm the other night to see if by some stretch it might be similar and I can report that it is one place to steer clear of. The chicken was dry, tough, and had no flavor. Mrs. Knott is probably turning over in her grave with how bad the food is there.
Anyway, does anyone have any suggestions?? It doesn't have to be in the L.B. area as I am more than willing to drive to get this craving met. :-)
Thanks
There's Roscoe's and Johnny Reb's in Long Beach. I've only been to the Inglewood location, but there's an M&M Soul Food in Lakewood.

I believe that Johnny's is still closed due to a fire last year. I prefer M & M over Rosecoe's. For fast food, try Pollo Campanero on Long Beach Blvd and Willow, very good Guatamalen style fried chicken

Johnny Reb's is still closed (I drive past it every day)
I second Pollo Campero on Long Beach in Willow. it is great fried chicken. This location is not as good as the other ones I've been to particularly one on Wilshire? next to La Curacao.
Honey's Kettle Fried Chicken in Compton isn't that far away and its delicious

I chimed in and I heartily recommend Chi Chi's in Northridge. It's a pizza place, it's a bit of a drive but it might be worth a trip. Their fried chicken is not traditional -- it's pressure cooked but, gawd, the results are fantastic!
Happy wishes on your coming soon bundle of joy :)

I am so happy for you.
Moffett's had some good fried chicken but Pann's sets the bar for tender fried chicken. Pann;s also has some tangy home made cranberry sauce but I had that on Thanksgiving week -- Not sure if the cranberry sauce is an everyday thing. But that fried chicken is well worth te drive from LB.

Second Pann's.
Also, Aunt Kizzy's Back Porch is great, and the yams/sweet potatoes and mac'n'cheese...
And, oddly enough, if you go to Albertson's, and get them to make you a fresh batch, it's pretty damn good... I was a skeptic, and now a convert.

Those "zesty wings" at Albertson's are addictive too.

Lucilles does fried chicken and has old fashioned sides. Not sure if they have cranberry sauce but the biscuits are good.

I was excited to discover from a chowhound search that Moffet's does have another location in Arcadia that was started by the brother of the Bellflower store. Apparently it is supposed to be the same style of food. My mom, daughter, and I are very excited about making a trip up there to check it out. Thanks for the replies. I am definitely interested in checking out Pann's.

The menu at the Arcadia shop is more restricted than the closed Bellflower shop. IMO it was the expanded menu that killed that other location. The Arcadia location does not have fried chicken and has mostly an older crowd. An expanded menu would lead to a few new different customers (maybe younger people who like the fried chicken kind of food) and that may lead to the base crowd leaving (taking the "bread-and-butter" base money with them). The Arcadia location has done very well for many decades with the restricted original menu and most likely will not change it soon. "If it is not broke there is no need to fix it." Those pot pies are very good.
You will love the fried chicken at Pann's. Hey, once you try the Pann's Fried chicken dinner maybe start a new original post about what you think of that dinner. I do not think that any of the many positive post about Pann's begins with a title of what may be the best meal they offer -- the "Fried Chicken Dinner at Pann's" . IMO, it is a classic Sunday night dinner and a great way to end/begin a Chowhound week.

Pittsburgh Broasted Chicken in Los Alamitos does mainly take out. They do have outdoor seating so you can take the pleasant atmosphere of Katella Blvd.

Last night I had the "Special Platter" at the Northwoods Inn (Fried chicken, scallops and steak chunks) $24.95. The fried chicken is very good with a nice batter outside and moist chicken inside.
The price of the dinner includes two salads (red cabbage and blue cheese) and cheese bread (fresh hot oven toasted bread with a cheese spread) which you can have refilled along with more salads. The platter also includes rice pilaf and a very large baked potato with a choice of whipped cheese butter, butter, sour cream & chives, or mushroom gravy -- actually a meal in itself. The Northwoods also offers a Fried Chicken dinner with all the sides mentioned above for about $20. The New York strip is very good also.

If you love the crusty luscious battered golden kind you must go to Katella Deli. I never would have thought this was a place to get fried chicken but once I tried it I'm hooked. They serve it with these battered potatoes too which are to die for. Then after you can get some pastries in the bakery. HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend. I also think Johnny Reb's in Bellflower makes my 2nd favorite fried chicken. Very good.
