Hot Dogs on the Westside

I know all about Carney's and Pink's, but it's Sunday and there's football on. I live in West LA and don't want to drive too far to grab a couple of hot dogs before the first game at noon. Does anyone have a good recommendation on the westside for hot dogs? I would love one chili dog, and one regular dog with all the fixings. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Tommys chili dogs are good, big lots of chili, onions, tomatos, cheese, wear old cloths, very messy.

I actually ran over to the Tommy's in Santa Monica after getting caught up in this thread. I ordered one chili cheese dog with onions, ($2.80). It is a steamed dog, which I like, but the quality of the chili (and the fact that they don't just smother the dog in it, but bury it in an avalanche of chili) leaves something to be desired. I still find the chili at Carney's on Sunset to be the one I measure all the rest by. YMMV

i second marty's. actualy, juniors has a pretty good grilled dog...hebrew national on a fresh bun with cheese, onions and colesalw isn't bad.

Oh Marty's, I always forget about that one. I've never had the dogs there, just the burger. Thanks for the rec, that might be worth a quick trip.

My difficulty is that I like steamed dogs over grilled and Marty's does grilled. But a lot of folks like grilled. Johnny's Pastrami on Sepulveda in Culver City has dogs that are very similar to Marty's.

Added thought: I wonder how the dogs are at the Tommy's in Santa Monica (Pico and Lincoln)?

I just ate at Marty's on Friday. And they have a new addition to their menu wich is a chicken sausage with grilled onions and peppers. Pretty good. I think that across the street on Pico, at the Colony Cafe, the have steamed hot dogs but will grill them upon request.

I like the CC dogs at the Colony Cafe (almost a little too much on the frou frou side with their green onions and all) but I didn't think they were open on Sunday.
