Jax Vegan Cafe in Westwood

This is a little place, tucked off the street at 1783 Westwood Blvd (just north of Santa Monica Blvd., near Sunnin and Ross). Many years ago, it was a coffee house called "Rooms."

I tried a vegan BLT. It was okay - nothing to dream about - but it came with a side salad of very fresh greens, nicely dressed with balsamic dressing. They have a number of salads on the menu. I'm picky about my greens and these were definitely good, so next time I would order a salad.

They sell a number of desserts from a company called "No Udder Desserts." I bought a couple to go to keep around the house and they were all good -- a lemon cake, a chocolate banana cake, a "twinkie" imitator, a chocolate chip cookie bar and a corn flake, peanut butter cluster bar. I think I liked them because they were small (unlike the supersized desserts they sell at most places) and not overly sweet and they tasted freshly baked (the labels indicate no preservatives).

Not much atmosphere - just a few tables. It seems like a good addition to the neighborhood if you like vegan food and/or salads with high-quality greens.
