Best German Restaurants/Delis in Chicago-area

I'm probably going to take my family to Steirer Hof/Christl's German Inn in Palatine next Sunday, so if anyone knows anything specifically on this establishment that would be helpful I'd love to hear about it.

But I'm also interested in hearing about some other places that might be good for future reference and finding the best German delis out there to get some good produce.

Thanks in advance!

Resi's Bier Stube on Irving Park Road just west of Damen Avenue on the northside of Chicago. Authentic food and great vibe plus a cozy bier garden for the summer months.

Resi's is very good. Love the vibe, the outdoor beer garden (one of the nicest around) and the potato pancakes. As far as food and interior decor goes, I think Laschet's Inn -- just west of Resi's and on the other side of the street -- is much better, but that's not to take anything away from Resi's.

You might like Kunz (sp) Deli in Deerfield. It is tucked away in Deerbrook Mall at the intersection of Lake Cook Road and Waukegan. I'd call first to make sure they are open when you want to visit. I'm not sure that they have produce, though.
