Good Rye Bread?

I am looking for a local bakery that makes a good Jewish rye. Lately I have been making pilgrimages to Zabar's to get my fix, but I am sure there must be somewhere closer to home (Forest Hills) where I can get one. Anyone have any info? Maybe a place in Kew Gardens Hills or perhaps Jay-Dee bakery? I have tried some of the packaged ryes on 108th Street (from Carmel) as well as one kosher bakery there, but was very disappointed. Many thanks!

I assume you are looking for something in Queens, but I have to mention the rye from Mazzola's on Henry and Union in Brooklyn is amazing.

I would hit up some of the Russian Jewish stores on 108th Street for freshly-baked rye bread: Russians make tons of varieties and you should find one you will like.
