STL - Pantera's Pizza (east side also)

TwoPointers Jan 18, 2008 08:49 PM

Howdy all - I am old enough to remember when the HUNK was a chain.

But now that they are individually owned, wondered if they are still the same. I heard the O'Fallon one is "authentic" but also heard that no, O'Fallon wasn't, but Maplewood was. The gentleman that owns the Belleville (I think) and Edwardsville restaurants also appears to have the original goods.

Thanks for any input. Realize this not high brow, but hey, pizza is also on the chowhound diet here in STL (Imo's and provel aside).

    Me too....old enough that is.
Haven't been to a Pantera's since the one in Webster shut down years ago. Don't know how "authentic" the one is in O'Fallon, but there is a STL. radio jock that talks about it all of the time.:>)

I think the Maplewood location is still old school hunk, but haven't been there in a while. Hmm...maybe that would be a god pickup for the football game today....

By the way, I'm originally from STL but moved away 25 years ago and I would commit a felony for a few moment's alone with an Imo's Pizza. I've even had it Fed Ex'd to me in Arizona,

        Is Farotto's Pizza still good?

Yes, I was just there before Christmas and I think it's good for St. Louis style pizza. Not being from St. Louis and thus lacking the "provel cheese" gene, I always ask for mozzarella. I do find it a little pricey for what it is.

mozzarella?????????? what is that?!?!? mozzarella is meant for caprese, not pizza! :-)
