birthday dinner in LA tonight...any suggestions?

we're planning to have dinner for my birthday in LA. Does anyone have any suggestions? We were planning to go to Katana, but we need to find a place with better portions. It can get pretty expensive there. We are going to be somewhat dress up to go out for the night. So a swanky atmosphere with great food will be wonderful. Thank you!

I would head across the street to Asia de Cuba. The sticker price on the menu is high, but the portions are large and dishes are meant to be shared. You can certainly dress up there, and afterwards slip over to Skybar.
