Cafe Con Leche mini-chain?

What do Chowhounds think of the Cafe Con Leche chain? Not authentic enough? I havent been there for a couple years but remember liking their picadillo and am looking for Dominican or Cuban food this weekend.

I always found the location in the 80s good, but more recently, it was OK, and I went to the location between 95th and 96th on Amsterdam within the last couple of months, and it was only acceptable. I'm in no rush to go back. If you're in the 90s, go to El Malecon between 97th and 98th on Amsterdam. It's better and cheaper, though the food is not the same.

take a little ride to Union City , it's right through the Lincoln tunnel. Go to Bergenline Ave. Your choice of many many great Cuban restaurants. Better than any in Manhattan I think

I can't comment on authenticity, but I'll vouch for its deliciousness. One of my top cheap brunches.

Picadillo @ cafe-con-Leche on Amsterdam & 80s is fairly decent. I do like picadillo at Azucar now called Guantanamero (sp?) on 8th Ave. between 56th & 55th.
