El Sol de America - 1930 9th St, NW - Reviews??
Has anyone been to this place yet? Heard of it? A colleague got a review of it from some friends and apparently it's quite good. It's a "little Mexican dive that features a very moderately priced pan-Latin menu."
Thanks.

Hey, I just checked out this place Thursday night. They served us chips and salsa to begin and offered to refill. Always appreciated. I ordered the fish tacos (grilled, served with guacamole), my boyfriend had the enchiladas, and we shared a pupusa. The rice and beans served with the enchiladas were exceptionally good and carefully seasoned. The tacos were very satisfying although they seem to make their own tortillas out of masa rather than a standard corn tortilla. It was a very unpretentious place (with entertaining dance music on in the background) but I thought there was a lot of care and attention in the food. I would definitely go back. Will maybe try the fajitas or one of the many other taco options next time. The menu was quite varied and included a bunch of soups, appetizers, grilled-meat/fish-type entrees, enchiladas and chimichangas, and tacos.

Corn tortillas are made out of masa. There are no corn tortillas not made of masa. It is a wonderful thing to have fresh corn tortillas.

Oops, not an expert. I meant that the texture resembled a pupusa texture (spongey) rather than a corn tortilla texture (harder and thinner).

This place is closed! Some construction crew currently ripping out the interior. Been like that for at least a month.
