Upscale Lunch tomorrow

A dear friend is coming to town this weekend and we like to treat ourselves on occasion to a very nice lunch.

Upscale surroundings and fare, full bar are requirements.

Could be in Boston or Cambridge. Hoping for more than fancy sandwiches and do not want eggs (brunch).

Any suggestions?

I think Dante answers the call. With gorgeous views of the Charles River (and the Boston skyline) and really sleek design, it has the upscale feel you are looking for. The food is delicious - and the only complaint I would issue is the portions are a tad on the small size. I have complained about service at the bar here before, but it does not hold over into the dining room, where service is nearly flawless. Dante is usually in the restaurant - though not so sure about lunch on the weekend. Some of the menu items include roasted salmon and grilled hangar steak as well as many artful and delicious salads and housemade pastas. Hopefully it will be sunny - because then the view will be a million-dollar one!

Ordinarily my go-to recommendation (or choice) for a lunch as you describe would be the Bristol Lounge at the Four Seasons. Unfortunately they are closed for a face-lift until the 20th or 22nd.

A solid second choice, IMO, would be the Oak Bar at the Fairmont.
