Healthy dinner in Providence?

kko03001 Jan 18, 2008 08:36 AM

I will be in Providence tonight and was hoping to find a somewhat healthy dinner place (similar to, say, O'Naturals in Somerville, MA or Veggie Planet in Cambridge, MA). I really don't want Italian food (although the Italian in Providence is wonderful), so perhaps something Asian-y, Middle Eastern, or an upscale sandwich joint.

I'd suggest Garden Grille - address is East Ave, Pawtucket, but it's riiiiight over the Providence line (Blackstone Blvd/east side). Wonderful vegetarian food, beer & wine license, vegan desserts.

That was going to be my suggestion as well.

I would suggest Rasoi; it is an Indian restaurant that is next to Garden Grille. Also, if you are looking for more American cuisine, I would suggest Julian's on Broadway. The menu changes nightly so you will probably find Tofu Steaks, Chickpea Burgers, Free Range Pan Seared Chicken Breasts, and traditional & vegan desserts. It is a casual funky place with a great beer selection.

I went to Rasoi for the first time recently based on Chowhound posts and loved it. And yes, as those posts said the service was wonderful. I didn't enjoy Indian food until this year.....oddly enough, it's the place at Prov Place Mall that changed my mind.

Garden Grille is a terrific choice. Really good. Let us know where you end up.

Rasoi and Garden Grille (right next to each other) are wonderful suggestions.
