You can buy a baby Kafir lime tree (dwarf variety) at Armstrong Garden Center.

You can usually buy them at Ranch 99 and I have seen them a few times at Whole Foods.

Try the Ranch 99 over on Artesia Blvd just west of where the 91 fwy ends. They usually sell them in the fresh produce section next to all of the hot chile peppers in little foam trays wrapped with plastic wrap.

Thanks guys. Will try those recs. Hated driving all the way to Alhambra for it. Can't get it to last long either so the tree sounds like a good bet.

Where are you? 99 Ranch has multiple locations. There's is one on Sepulveda just north of Victory in Van Nuys.

Also, Bangluck Market which is a Thai market. They are in North Hollywood on Sherman Way and in Hollywood which I know is no closer to you than Alhambra but they will have every ingredient you need including makroot, galangal, oyster mushrooms, lemon grass, basil, chilis and shallots cheap, cheap, cheap!!!

If you have problems finding them in the South Bay, I can generally get them in season at A Chau market (on Magnolia at Edinger).
