Cape Arundel Inn- Maine

Could someone post a mini-review of the restaurant at the Cape Arundel Inn? We're wondering if we should go, but don't know much about it.

  1. This is the web site , may or may not help. If I'm not mistaken there have been previous post on Chowhound in the past. You might have to search for them but you could try.

    1. I'm not familiar with it, but I can ask my boss. They are friendly with most innkeepers throughout New England.

From doing a search here, one person really enjoyed the place, and one said the food didn't live up to their expectations.

      1. I am not from Maine but vacation there several times a year. We make a point to go to the Cape Arundel once per visit if we can. It's a lovely space and the food and service are excellent. I haven't been since last June so I can't recall enough to comment on specific dishes except I do recall the Cold Shellfish plate (a starter) to be out of this world last time I was there. Menu changes seasonally and this was offered last June.
It is upscaled but a jacket not required for men. Last I was there, the table next to us all the men were wearing shorts. To me that was not acceptable but they had no problem being seated. We were there on Father's Day.
There's a piano player each evening.
If you are having drinks/wine figure on $75-100 per person depending on # of courses you are having.

        1. Very good food and rooms. Right on the water across the street from President Bush senior's house.
