Using a Cast Iron Grill Pan -- Your Favorite Recipes

Once again, I've fallen victim to an impulse purchase -- this time it's a 10" Lodge Logic cast iron grill pan that I found at TJ Maxx for $12. Now all I need is inspiration. I'd love to hear your favorite healthy suggestions for using my new "toy."

  1. Sorry I don't have any recipes. Amazon is selling a Grill Pan Cookbook discounted to $ 1.00 plus shipping.

    1. You can use this pan in a wide variety of ways. I use it to grill shrimp and boneless chicken breast for salads. I use it to cook bacon so that the bacon doesn't sit in its fat. I have used it to start lamb chops on the stovetop and finish in the oven (make sure you have your exhaust fan on for this). I also use it to make "panini's" without having to clutter up my kitchen with another appliance.

When I bought this same pan, even though it is supposed to be pre-seasoned, it was not fully "non-stick" until I seasoned it myself.

      Experiment!

I've read comments about Lodge "pre-seasoned" cookware that say the same thing as you did -- that it still needs seasoning before it becomes non-stick. How did you season yours?
