Does anyone know if any retailers / grocery stores carry peter lugers steak sauce in Los Angeles? I live on that stuff.

I know i can mail order it, but don't want to order 6 bottles at a time if i can help it.

Pacific Dining Car used to sell you some to go. See if they still do and then try it side by side with the Peter Luger's. By the way, a wine group I belong to flew in steaks from Peter Luger's. The heck with their steak sauce and price be damned those are outstanding steaks. We had the new york strip.

hmmm never had it before, might have to try it. usually with prime steaks i dont use sauce. and most steak sauces i have tried are either lacking in one or more ingredients or are overdone in one flavor. that being said i recently ate at 555east steakhouse in long beach and was surprised at how good their house made steaksauce is. brought a bottle home.

Vicente Foods on San Vicente and Bundy carries it next to the meat section. Please note it has to be refrigerated upon purchase, not just when opening it.

peter lugers, that's the steak place in NYC that everyone talks about, right?

What is the sauce like? Must be very good, as your looking for it.

I always thought foodies didn't use steak sauce?

I understand from the New Yorkers that I know that the sauce is for bread dipping or using with the potatoes. Personally I pour it right on my steak and I think it is great. You might note that there is a common thread between the really well known staek sauces one of which is now gone I understand. Pacific Dining Car, Peter Luger's Monty's Steak House, and the legendary steakhouse at Knotts were all steak relishes. I believe the one at the now long defunct Fog Cutter in Hollywood was also similar. I think one person started this sauce and then everyone added their own touch to it. By the way, Peter Luger's on a hamburger or lamb chops shows equally well.

Gelsons in Century City, too. On ice with the butcher.

Gelson's in the Palisades carries it. Look for it in the meat section.

At Gelson's it is in the meat department tucked between the steaks.
