MSP - Wow, Liberty Frozen Custard is gorgeous

Beautiful interior, and probably the best ice cream/frozen custard I've had in the state.

It's our standard place to go, although may not be the most unique flavors (nor the best in the state in my opinion), it's a great value and it is really cute.

I'm curious what you think the best custard in state is? I ask b/c my mom grew up in upstate NY and loves custard. We've been to Adeles many times (and of course Culvers, but that's not really what I'm after). Any forzen custard advice (particularly located in north/east metro) would be appreciated.

I'm not a custard expert and I love Liberty's.. but I think their stuff is from a mix.

I think some of their flavors are little obnoxious, but every day they have the best vanilla flavored ice cream or custard I have ever had. Plus you can get a kiddy cone (despite their age regulations they'll still do it if you ask nicely) for a dollar !!

My fav is birthday cake (i like anything that has white cake it in.. almost cried when they didn't have it on a recent trip to ring mountain, which is supposed to have birthday cake every single day!) & sante fe banana (sugar cookies & bananas mixed into vanilla.. it's lovely)

As for what's the best in the state, I imagine anything home-made is better.. but I don't really know =) I haven't been to Adele's.. wanted to go there the other day but couldn't remember the name. I'm gonna write it down now :)

I had a long chat with the owner today, who totally set me in my place (in the sweestest way possible). They make all their own flavors in house every day, but part of their base comes from a pre-mix they hand selected from Illinois.

What I can tell you is you need to get your butts there. NOW. Or at least Saturday.

They are having CINNAMON ROLL for the first time in 2 months and it won't be there again until at least April. It is great. Cinnamon flavored ice cream w.soft little cinnamon roll (think cinnamon cookie dough) pieces intermixed. Awesome stuff (if you like cinnamon).

If you choose not to try it, I guess that's okay.. more for me =)

Has anyone tried Michael's Frozen Custard? It's made in Madison, WI,
but sold lately in Cub Foods. Their website has a review from the
NY Times raving about it. I'll post here when I try some.
