Bistro Bis- RW 2008
Just got back from lunch at Bistro Bis. It was my first time eating there so my experiences maybe different from someone who goes there during a none restaurant week.
This is what my friend and I had:
Coq au Riesling
The Chocolate Roulade
Berries and Cream ($4 surcharge)
Great onion soup, what I expected it to be. Enjoyed the endive salad, but thought it would be individual endive leaves with filling vs. a chopped endive salad. The trout salad was okay. Nothing to go back for, but the trout was cooked nicely. My friend enjoyed the Chicken dish and we both thought the portion size to be huge, but that's okay when the chicken is nice and tasty. The roulade was meh, but the berries and cream (creme anglaise sauce), more than made up for the roulade and the $4.00 surcharge.
Service was pleasant and efficient. They changed their lunch menu to the restaurant week menu so none of that "oooh, you are cheap and ordering from RW menu" attitude. Did not feel rushed out as the meal was decently paced. Then again my friend and I didn't lounge around as we had to get back to work.
What about the rest of you? What do you think of Bistro Bis during RW or any other time?
I haven't been there for dinner but have been quite a few times for dinner and a weekend lunch and have always enjoyed my experience there. I think the staff is great...certainly is there when you need them and out of the way when you don't. I've had great experiences dinning at the bar as well...very friendly bartenders.
You should try it for brunch sometime as well. The French onion soup is on the brunch menu as well and I agree, its done perfectly.
