Best Steamed Mussels in Charleston?
In the past we've gone to 39 Rue de Jean for mussels, but a recent post said something like "back when it was good". I guess the chef from 39 moved out to Fat Hen? IS that where we should go now? We'll be dining with a few children; 39 accomodated them well enough.
If I have my facts right, Rue changed ownership and the chef left to open Fat Hen. I haven't been to Rue in many years, mainly because I noticed a decline, so I can't comment on their current state. I did just make it out to Fat Hen a couple of weeks ago for the first time. I didn't have the mussels, but I will say that our meal was fabulous and if you decide to go I don't think you will be disappointed. I don't know how old the children you are dining with are or what they like to eat, but if it helps they are open for lunch. www.thefathen.com
ETA: I just looked on their website, and it seems they have a kids menu.
