The Fat Greek - Kaimuki

It "finally" opened sometime in the last week or so. It is at the corner of St. Louis and Waialae. Not a huge menu but a decent selection of grilled meat type dishes, typical sides, salads. I had a Gyro plate which included a decent sized Gyro and a reasonable amount of tossed greens on the side. That and a Soda was about $10. A little bit high, but not bad.

The salad was fresh and crisp, nice light o&v dressing, maybe some lemon juice?. The pita was very fresh, soft, chewey. The meat was nicely seasoned, and the dressing was tasty. They gave me some 'hot sauce' (something new to me for greek food) which was ok, but I didn't find it necessary.

I will probably be back (but then its only two blocks from my place). A good quick alternative to Pyramids and the Greek Corner.

  1. Good timing, there is a review in the Friday Advertiser, TGIF section of the Fat Greek. The gyro sounds very good, I will have to stop by sometime and give it a try.

we were out that way on Tuesday and they're right, the parking thing can be an issue. Now with the review we would like to try it, we love that kind of food! It sounds so good, I like the description of the lamb shanks and the gyros, well everything sounded good!

Yep, parking will be a problem for them just like it is for Baja Tacos. No place else to park nearby if you don't get a space in that crazy corner lot.

    2. Nadine Kam also reviewed it in today's Sunday Star Bulletin...high ratings on food and value, but low on service. Access is a problem, with limited parking on a dangerous corner. Will check it out soon, but then live close enough to walk.
