went to sunday night dinner at lucques tonight...in a nutshell, yuck - poor service and bad food. i realize it's ONLY a $30 prix fixe, but not one dish was even mediocre. the bread and butter was excellent, however.
this restaurant has been going downhill steadily since its opening.
are there any great non ethnic restaurants in LA????
PS. At least in NYC or SF, you pay more, but you get quality. This town blows.
This is your opinion. I am also not a fan but 2 weeks ago when I was leaving Jozu, there was a line out the door to get in at Lucques. I think you and I just don't like the food she is cooking. Luckily there are lots of people that do like it. She has nothing to worry about.
actually, i didn't find the service rude...just inept and slow. however, during our half hour wait for apps, we asked for some more butter and olives, and the waiter said he would have to charge us for the olives!!!!
he then came back with the olives, comping them due to the long wait for our food. how generous...
I've gotta counter the anti-Lucques postings. My wife and I had heard very positive things about the place from some serious food-lovers, I'd read the positive reviews, and so our hopes were high when we booked a reservation on a saturday night. And we had a tremendous time - we thought the food, the atmosphere and the service were all very, very good. I had no complaints whatsoever. Maybe we just got lucky, but I'd go back in a heartbeat.
