Fresh, ripe fruits right off the tree's have no equal. Here are a few more questions to field:

1) What are some of the best U-Pick Fruit Farms in the Los Angeles Area and what kind of fruits do they grow? I've heard there are farms in Palmdale, Banning, and Oxnard Areas.

2) When are the peak picking times for the various fruits in these areas? (I'm particularly interested in cherries, which I think are almost out of season).

Thanks all,
Dan

  1. Every year, at the beginning of June, I go to Leona Valley to pick cherries. Take the Palmdale exit off Hwy 14 and head west about 10 miles. I'm partial to Hobart's orchard, but there are around 50 others. Don't go the first weekend they're open, as the cherries aren't ready. Across from Hobart's is Harry's sour pie cherries, which are excellent for cherry pie. If you time it right, you can get sweet and sour cherries in one trip.
