Gourmet's Southern Food Issue Recipes
I've only made the Greens with Cornbread Dumplings, but I think I want to make every recipe in this issue, especially the Fried Chicken with Bacon, (oh yeah, everything has bacon - except for the Coconut Cake which I will make if I can get any of my family members to eat it besides me), and the Shrimp with Grits, and the Baked Eggs.
Anyone make anything from it, and how did it turn out?
What about those biscuits?

Surprisingly good and the dumplings were so easy I felt like it was a "Duh" moment, as why haven't I done this before! I used kale, but could have used anything else. My children, enticed by the dumplings, even tried it, with a 50% approval rating - pretty good for something they wouldn't ordinarily look at.
I love greens, so I would have eaten them without the dumplings. I will definitely make them again.

I was really busy when the issue came out. My DH made the greens and one other dish that was delicious. I can't remember what it was. The fog of the Christmas rush has blurred my memory. I have read them all and do plan to make most of everything. It is pretty much the way i cook anyway. If you are going to make shrimp and grits do your self a favor and order some really good grits from Anson Mills.
