Degustation for Valentine's Day?
I'm planning to take my SO there for Valentine's Day ... is that a good idea? I've never been, but from what I've heard, it sounds like a nice, intimate place--and I'm fine with counter seating.
Also, would you recommend the tasting menu, or a la carte?

There's only 16 or so seats so you might want to make a reservation right away . . . especially since Degustation's chef had a nice write-up in this month's Food & Wine. p.s. You might want to do a search of this site there are a lot of posts.

It's definitely a romantic and intimate place -- perfect for dates. They're experimenting with a 10-course tasting meal. I would choose that one. There are items that aren't on the regular menu. We also received a few extra courses with our meal that the chef prepared because he thought we would enjoy it.

strangely enough, the place works for dates...even with the counter seating...i had a date there and we had a great time and barely heard other people's conversations next to us.
im hit or miss on the food...id go with a la carte. i think we shared 9 plates between the two of us and were pretty stuffed by the end. they have a great bottle of priorat.

I found Degustation really romantic. I think the size and the setup makes it feel really unique. Just ask for a spot near the back so you're not getting blasted by cold air.
I also went a la carte. I think we shared about 6 dishes and we'e comfortably full by the end. If they still have the cheesesteak, by all means get it. So tasty.
