Pho and Banh Mi in Portland or mid-Coast Maine?

JMF Jan 14, 2008 06:02 AM

Are there any places serving good Pho and Banh Mi in Portland or mid-coast Maine? I'm having a major craving for some and am willing to drive the 1 3/4 hours to Portland for a good one. Thanks

You can find Banh Mi at Kim's Sandwich Cafe on Saint John St. More info available at http://www.portlandfoodmap.com/Kim&#3...

Tranh Tranh 2 on Forest Ave. in Portland maybe your place, it's my favorate.
...and the take out pho is just the ticket after your ride home. Heat the broth, add the fresh ingrediants, and it's the same as you'd have it there!

I was just there and I quite agree--the pho is excellent. But if you're looking it up, it's Thanh Thanh 2.

If you want to drive north, World Soup in Blue Hill has really excellent Pho. It is its mainstay, great for lunch, but closes early, 5-5:30.

When I last visited Blue Hill, in the fall, I was told World Soup had closed. Not true?

Mainegal, you're right again. I haven't been into Blue Hill since the summer. Bummer. Casa Luna, the "new" Italian place in Ellsworth is gone too. Have you tried Calypso, the new place where Mai Dee's used to be on Maine? We've been for some bar food. "Twas good.
