My wife and I will be in Port Isabel, Port Aransas, and Rockport for several days in early March and would appreciate dining recs in these towns, especially seafood. Quiet and elegant is preferable to loud and cheap, but we'd like to hear about everyone's favorite places and what makes them favorites.

The Crab Inn in Rockport has excellent seafood. Reservations are strongly recommended on weekend nights. Service had been kind of haphazard but the food is always excellent. The Venician Hot Pot in Port Aransas is excellent. It has superb Italian food - but don't ask for freshly shaved Parmesan cheese on your entrees unless you want to get rapped in the head with a wine bottle, as cheese shavings aren't in the owner's vocabulary.

I posted recommendations on 12/30/07 based on my family's visit after Christmas. Several of the restaurants were on South Padre Island, but that very close to Port Isabel. Search by South Padre Island.
