My 15 year old son and I will revisit Florence (last time was 2001) in June for 5 nights, including hooking up with my older son's gang for his 18th birthday. I love reading your reviews! I'm looking for 5 memorable and fun dinner spots. I go for the yummy food. My guys go for the happening atmosphere, pasta, buffala mozarella, and balsamico. Garga was memorable (as was Beccofino, but other past choices were not!). I'm guessing Garga will be our birthday dinner night. Looking forward to your current insights...

Sostanza would be fun and memorable. It's a small restaurant with communal tables, but that seems to make the experience more fun. I had a chicken in butter dish that was incredible and remember the rest of the meal to be excellent as well.

Taking 18 year olds?
I latini for wild never ending food orgy, like a fellini film

I took my 21 year old nephew and a group of his fellow class mates when he was studying in florence to Acqua al due.. for the pasta tasting then we did the tagliata.. steaks.. and the dessert tasting...they had fun!

Garga is a little more grown up I think..and Giostro too.. for groups or kids

For fun pizza and pasta yellow bar on via proconsolo.

Another one of my favorites ( I have been here for 25 years) is Osteria Cafe Italiano near vivoli's FABULOUS mozzarella

Also nice with great mozzarella is Croce al Trebbio near the Santa MAria novella piazza.

and great fried food.. Quattro Leone with outdoor dining near SAnto Spirito

Or in PIazza Santo Spirito Borgo Antico
have fun!
