San Francisco Saloon - Westside

  • z

This place is right by me on the Westside, by The Best Buy on Pico and Sawtelle. Nobody has ever mentioned it in any 'best burger' thread thus far.

I finally broke down and got two burgers to go yesterday- one for me and one for my girlfriend. Got home (after a 2 minute trip, too quickly to ruin a time-sensitive burger experience), opened the styrofoam and took a bite.

It was the best burger I've had in L.A. Absolutely delicious. They even ask you how you want it done, which is somewhat of a rarity these days.

They're a 1/2 pound, perfect for almost any gourmand. They make their fries fresh, so they taste like In and Out's. Not very good, in other words. But the burger was totally killer.

The place is kinda divey with what looks like a spate of 'regulars' manning the bar. But I will nonetheless return.

  1. My husband and I were there last weekend for lunch. I LOVED my burger, he hated his. It was a good place for a quick meal. Nice fresh side salad too.

What was it that you "loved" about your burger, and what was it that your husband "hated" about his?

Husband is Australian and I guess they do burgers there differently. I have yet to hear him love an american burger. He also doesn't like cheese on his, he thinks all cheese in america stinks. He might have just been in a particularly fussy mood or just wasn't that hungry.

Mine was perfectly flavored and perfectly cooked (med. rare). I had bacon and cheddar on mine. Lots of yummy mayo too.
