Hi
Visiting SF and Napa end of may for a BIG birthday. Any suggestions on where to stay and eat would be greatly appreciated. Thinking of 2 nights in SF and 4 in Napa - 2 different areas. Like smaller restaurants and places to stay, but need serious food/wine. We are from boston and eat at all the best restaurants, we like the ones that feel inviting and comfortable not cold and pretentious. Don't mind paying for good food, service, etc just want to end up in the right spot. Send the ideas on over......

You might want to read this thread first: http://www.chowhound.com/topics/469166 then do a few searches and look around a bit at other threads and suggestions and then come back with a list of possible restaurants that you would like feedback about. Here was a recent thread by a visitor with a lot of good ideas: http://www.chowhound.com/topics/458816
