PHX - where to buy white anchovy?

Any suggestions?

A co-worker asked me this today and I was at a loss beyond the usual suspects(AJ', WF, etc). She says she hasnt' found them.

I suggested Spanish Table but don't see them on the website...and that's not local anyhow.

I've never had these so I'm intrigued to try them now as well...anyone know where to get them locally?

  1. I don't know about that, but I have seen fresh anchovies at Whole Foods. I would call and inquire.

I second Wholefoods....I was in there last evening (Tatum and Shea) they have a whole section of Anchovies. If they don't have the white...just ask....they are very accommodating!

OK...I live almost next door to the new one so I'll check there and talk to them. I know she checked the Tempe one...but the Chandler seems to have much more of everything....

If she strikes out at WF, she might try calling the Spanish Table. I was just at their Berkeley store on Monday, and I'm pretty sure they had canned boquerones in stock., another online source for Spanish foods carries them. Go to and search the site for "boquerones". They sell them in a small (90g) container and huge (800g) container.

    2. I've seen them at the AJ's on Central.

      1. Thought I'd follow up if anyone is looking for these...I did find them at the WF here in Chandler...BUT....they don't always have them out. They're in the cooler next to the fish counter....the two times I've found someone willing to go in the back and look they've found a case in the back cooler and I've been able to buy some. Don't know why they don't keep them out though.

Tasty little vittles once you do find them though!
