This is hilarious - I'm the one that's pregnant but it's my husband who has cravings. I read somewhere that there's a relatively new restaurant serving excellent hush puppies, but the name escapes me. Help me out here, CHers!

Also, if there are other places that y'all know that serve good hush puppies, please share. I know Virgil's does - that's a pre/post-theater standby for us.

You can get hushpuppies at Brother Jimmy's. They are a bit larger than those down south and don't have quite the same texture, but they're in the right direction!

Second the call for virgils -- if I remember correctly, they come with a maple syrup sauce and are delicious.

Blue smoke's are good as well, but miss the maple sauce.

Virgil's hush puppies are very good - and I think it might be maple butter, not a sauce (unless they changed it recently).

RUB is not exactly new. They have hush puppies on the menu though I've not tried them.

Could be Market Table on Carmine St. in the West Village. The hush puppies I had there were great, as was the rest of the food.

I just got the menu from Market Table for this season and they do have hushpuppies right now!
