I'm craving pie and i don't want to go to a nice fancy restaurant, i want to go somewhere where i can either pick it up to go or enjoy it casually... as a break from running errands in tennis shoes on the weekend. and i don't have a car OR any desire to leave NW dc, so even though i know there are great places in the burbs i really won't be able to get out there (especially for pie :). thanks in advance chowhounds!
Not sure if they have full size pies, but they usually have these really cute mini pies at Marvelous Market in Dupont Circle. I've had the pumpkin and the pecan pies and enjoyed both.
Also Kramerbooks often times has a few pies in addition to their yummy cheese cakes and regular cakes. You can buy a slice or 2.
Open City (Woodley Pk) and The Diner (Adams Morgan) have excellent pie by the slice. My fave is cherry. They are brother and sister restaurants.
