SF This Weekend - St. Regis

My boyfriend and are spending our anniversary in SF this weekend, staying at the St. Regis.

I'd love some restaurant recommendations, and I am open to anything.

The only choices I've made so far are Zuni Café. I went a few years ago and really enjoyed it, and I have the cookbook so I'd love to go back.

Some other recommendations I've gotten are Delfina, Perbacco, Chez Spencer and Quince. All in SOMA, I believe.

Any other suggestions? Favorites? Fancy or not, any cuisine.....

Maybe not on the special night out but I would go to Bar Crudo.

You could go to Pizza Delfina next door to Delfina for lunch, plus lots of other good treats on that same street.. or go to Zuni for lunch. I love Chez Spencer, I like Perbacco but I often go there for biz lunches so it does not seem all that special to me in terms of atmosphere. You might want to check at this point, very close to the weekend and some of the places you are interested in are getting booked.

Agree with Carrie. If you are staying at the St. Regis and you want a special meal, the answer is Amé, which is very special and on the first floor of the hotel.

      2. Only Chez Spencer is in SOMA (well, not really SOMA, but no map is going to say "MultiMedia Gluch"). Delfina is in the Mission, Perbacco is in the Financial District (within walking distance of St. Regis), and Quince is in Pacific Heights.

Quince, Delfina, and Perbacco are all good recommendations, but you likely won't be able to get into Quince or Delfina on this short notice and the times at Perbacco will be really early or really late.

I don't like Chez Spencer. The patio is nice, but with the rain, it won't do you much good. My main complaint about Chez Spencer is the slow and indifferent service I've recieved. Some people like it, I don't.

Bar Crudo is a good suggestion. Along the same lines as Zuni Cafe, I like Range in the Mission. You won't be able to get a reservation, but there are bar tables in the front.

Good point about the rain for Chez Spencer..However, I did not experience slow or poor service quit the opposite.

We had a similar experience at Chez Spencer - the food seemed pretty ordinary as well, but it may have been a reflection of the bad evening. I'm not a fan, either.

I love Ame and agree you should try it. Can you snag a table at Aziza? That is a fun option and the cuisine is different from anything on your list - it is Cal-Moroccan. I've not tried Bar Crudo, but it is high on my list due to the many favorable comments it receives. I am also a fan of Zuni! Enjoy your visit - and get on Open Table asap and get some reservations!
