Last Stop Before the 101-Hwd. Hills Coffee Shop

Is it just me, or has this place gone completely downhill? I used to love the menu and the specials, now it seems duller than dirt and overpriced for what you get. Plus the tables and silverware aren't clean, booths torn, service slow, air smelly....Breaks my heart.
Totally agree. Went there a few months ago and was so disappointed! My food (the lox, cream cheese and toasted bagel special) was bland, the lox fishy. My friend's egg benedict dish was cold and uninspired. The only edible dish at our table was the meatloaf, which was moist and flavorful.
Oh, and the wait staff was very slow despite only 4 other tables filled.

Que lastima! I haven't been to the Hollywood Hills Coffee Shop for quite awhile now. But it was on my list for having some of the best corned beef hash in town, along with other tasty morsels. A change as dramatic as that described in the previous two posts usually means a change in personnel. Does anyone know if there has been a change in kitchen recently? I know that Scooter Kanfer, who just opened "the house" on Melrose, used to cook there, but I don't know when she left or how long she was there. Anyone know about a recent change in chefs? Also, is HHCS still owned by Susan Fine Moore?
re: Tom Armitage
i went there a couple months ago and the corned beef hash still seemed up to par. great stuff. although possibly some people may find considerably too salty. the chocolate souffles are pretty good. but i cannot vouch for anything beyond their breakfast items and desserts. i've always been to afraid to veer toward the other items, since i had a gut feeling i'd be disappointed. in a side note, quality food & beverage also makes a pretty good corned beef hash.
