I'd suggest Eat and Two Veg, a diner serving delicious vegetarian food, or Galvin Bistrot de Luxe on Baker Street, which is reasonably priced and not formal either. You can book at both places.

I would be the third to agree. The Providores Tapa Room is a very nice place But there are often long waits, and no place even to stand inside. So you need a plan B. Marylebone Lane has a few spots that are nice: Caffe Caldesi for Italian. Next door is 108 (Marylebone Lane). There's a decent light menu in their cafe / bar / lounge area. La Fromaggerie has a few tables and services nice food. I am told that the RIBA Cafe is quite nice, though I haven't tried it. Finally, there's a few pubby places on the west side of the High Street, closer to Marylebone Road, one of which is pretty nice, but I always forget the name. Cheers, BB

You should try the Tapa Room, the ground floor of Peter Gordon's Providores restaurant at 109 Marylebone High Street. It's super-busy and you may have to wait for a (shared) table, but it is worth the wait. Inventive, fusion brunch dishes and a lovely atmosphere:
