Assorted grilled veggies and meats on skewers. It's super easy, very versatile, healthy, and makes for a great presentation as well as easy eating. Fruit skewers are good as well for a lighter dessert option. My crew also REQUIRES pigs in a blanket on game day as well as sausage nachos. I guess they feel they have to offset the healthier options somehow.

I make these every super bowl sunday; it's from Bon Appetit many years ago (though I couldn't find it on epicurious)

Westport Wings
2 servings, can be multiplied

2 T. vegetable oil
2 t. tabasco
2 t. worcestershire sauce
1/2 t. cayenne pepper
1 lb. wings, separated at joints

Preheat broiler. Mix oil, tabasco, worcestershire and cayenne in a shallow dish. Add wings and stir to coat. Put in single layer on a baking sheet and broil about 7 minutes per side. Serve with blue cheese dressing and carrots and celery, as with buffalo wings.

Buffalo Wing Dip is always a favorite at my Super Bowl parties. It's made with a container of cream cheese, a cubed chicken breast, some monterrey jack, some bleu cheese, and frank's red hot. It's a great way to get that hot wing taste without getting your hands all messy.

I made this buffalo chicken dip last week for the national championship game and got RAVE reviews. It wasn't just the men that liked it either. I handed out the recipe to three people. Here's a thread with the recipe and some tips. http://www.chowhound.com/topics/282859

If the Patriots make it to the Superbowl I will have to have a blowout. But the staples for my game days are mini-cheeseburgers, hot dogs wrapped in puff pastry with homemade katsup, buffalo shrimp, chicken quesadillas and hot and cold dips.

I was given the order last week, and I'm hoping the flavors will meld. Fingers crossed.

Our usual Superbowl party fare (Go Pats) is:

-Sweet & Sour Meatballs (crockpot)
-Italian sausage, peppers and onions in marinara sauce (another crockpot)
-Cold cut platter
-Crusty rolls and Martin's soft potato rolls
-Chicken Wings two ways, one buffalo style, one coated in Ah So Sauce (picture below)
-Hot Dogs (cut into three pieces) wrapped in crescent biscuit dough and baked, for an easy pigs in blanket
-Veggie and fruit platters
-Superbowl sundaes: Homemade brownies, topped with vanilla ice cream, hot fudge sauce, whipped cream and a cherry, served in little plastic helmets we have gathered from various sports stadiums.

Ribs! Baby backs - moisten with orange juice, sprinkle liberally with cajun seasoning, slow cook on the smoker or grill with only one burner lit, and turned way down, for at least 2 hours, or until almost falling off the bone. No need for sauce.

I haven't decided yet, but I am thinking wings, cocktail franks, chili, cornbread. Not sure if I am doing ribs this year. I'll probably buy dessert, or someone will bring. Last year, I ordered in from spicy Mina's. I figured that anything spicy that goes with beer is superbowl friendly.

I'd go with the brownies over cookies. More substanstial; less dainty. And always a crowd pleaser.

For my last three potlucks I've taken the classic bacon wrapped Lit'l Smokies. Wrap the cocktail wieners in bacon (halved lengthwise), secure with a toothpick, sprinkle with brown sugar, and bake at 350 for 45 minutes.

They are always the first thing to go! They travel well and have a yummy sauce that you can transfer the crockpot to keep warm (if they last that long!).

I also make a dip with 1 pkg softened cream cheese, 1 cup drained roasted red peppers, and 1 pkg of Hidden Valley ranch - all blended together until smooth. Serve with crackers and veggies. It's awesome and fast!

The BEST Superbowl dessert is whoopie pies! They are delish and a great finger food - as are any type of brownie/bar or cookies. Go to epicurious.com and search for whoopie pies for a great recipe. There's also one for turtle brownies on foodtv.com and every time I bring it to parties I get raves.
