Half Bottles?

morrigan Jan 9, 2008 04:12 PM

Are there any restaurants downtown that have a particularly good selection of half bottles? I find it tricky to agree on a full bottle if I'm eating something totally different from my dining partner, but a single glass isn't usually enough.

Ideas?

Okay...but other than Terroni's which is a bit casual (though usually brilliant) I don't see any restaurants. The thread seems to refer to the ability to take home what you bought and paid corkage on...which is usually a full bottle, given the amount charged...

Are there any restaurants other than Terroni that have good selections of half bottles? Not that Terroni isn't brilliant...

I think that you'll find that most restaurants don't stock half bottles, but an increasing number offer a good selection of wines by the glass. I realise that by-the-glass service can be hit-and-miss if the wines are not properly sealed and stored after opening, but you might consider a place like Crush, that has a wide selection by the 3 and 5 oz. glass.
