Mexicalli, B.C. Chinese restrauants

My wife and her family have told me that the Chinese food in Mexicalli is as good as anywhere in the U.S. Its really hard for me to believe, one day I am going to have to try it out for myself. Anybody familiar with the Chinese Food in Mexicalli, my wife's favorite is El Dragon. I checked on Wikipedia and that sight said that the Chinese food scene in Mexicalli rivaled such cities as San Francisco and Vancouver, that is really saying something IMO.

Do a search on this board and on Also, a general Google search might yield some good info.

Good luck, and, yes, Mexicali has good Chinese restaurants (Chinese immigrants built the railroads and agriculture industry there).

Its so far away from California isn't it? What was I thinking?

    2. I was in Mexicali Saturday on business and was directed by several locals to Rincon de Panchito located near my hotel, the Lucerna. We went in a large group and really enjoyed this place. The style is Chinese-American with Mexican influences. There were Cantonese and Mandarin offerings along with many of the greatest hits we know in the US: kung pao chicken, etc. But, this is the first time I've seen chiles gueros served in a Chinese restaurant. The quality and "sabor" was very high in all the dishes at Panchito's and many in our group went back again today before we flew back to LA.
